How Automatic Payment Reminders Work

Learn how Tutonomi automatically sends payment reminders when a lesson charge fails, and what happens next.

——— ••• ———

When a lesson payment fails, Tutonomi does not leave you to chase it.

We automatically begin a reminder process to help resolve the issue without you needing to step in.

Here’s how it works.

First, we retry the payment

If the card is still valid, we automatically retry the charge over the following days.

Many payment failures are temporary, such as insufficient funds, and resolve during this stage.

You do not need to do anything.

If the card needs updating

If the card has expired or can no longer be charged, we automatically email the pupil with a secure link.

They can use this link to:

  • Update their card details

  • Complete the payment

Once updated, we retry the charge automatically.

If payment is still not made

If payment is not completed after retries and initial contact, we send reminder emails.

These reminders clearly explain:

  • That the payment is outstanding

  • That action is required

  • How to update card details or complete payment

This gives the pupil time to resolve the issue before it becomes a direct conversation.

What this means for you

Most failed payments are resolved automatically.

You only need to step in if the issue remains after retries and reminders.

Tutonomi handles the system side first.
